One Manchester club boasts an amateur vets team with nine ex- Premier League players in their active roster.

222 Premier League Scores, 325 Global Caps

The team Vets Over-35s are located in southern Manchester and compete in the Cheshire-based Vets League Premier Tier.

The squad list this season boasts nine former top-flight players, with a combined over 1,800 Premier League appearances.

This high-profile roster also includes 222 Premier League scores and 325 global appearances.

The squad feature Papiss Cisse, who scored thirty-seven scores in over 100 games for Newcastle United after moving to them for £9m from Bundesliga side Freiburg in January 2012.

He had his first appearance for the team in their last home game against reigning champions Collegiate Old Boys and netted every one of the six goals in a six-two victory - featuring a half-hour first-half triple.

Wythenshawe's roster for this campaign also features former pros such as English and Anfield striker Emile Heskey, Hull City and Burnley midfielder George Boyd, Toffees striker Oumar Niasse, Wigan defender Maynor Figueroa, City duo Stephen Ireland and Nedum Onuoha and top-flight title victors Joleon Lescott and Danny Drinkwater.

Collectively, the former Premier League players have claimed 15 big honors and moved for combined transfer sums of approximately £123 million.

Household Figures and Global Players

Stephen Ireland began playing for the team during preseason this summer through good mate and present Wythenshawe player Blake Norton, and the ex- Irish player then asked other ex-pros, who all play in a weekly nine-a-side match, to join in.

Ex- Senegal forward Niasse, who scored 12 goals in sixty-five top-flight matches for Everton and even now goes to their home games, also had his debut against Collegiate OB - who are based in Liverpool and use an Everton warm-up gear as their strip.

"My mate Stephen said 'join and have a game, it's good fun'," said Niasse.

"Then he told me we were playing a side from the city and the shock I had when I noticed them sporting Blue kits - I say this is strange for me!

"When you still love football and you know you can still do it, wherever you can kick a ball, what are you going to choose?

"The spectators who turn up and watch are pleased and to give a day if they see us playing there and to pose us questions - it's really about the pleasure of us having somewhere we can play, with organisation of course."

So great is the squad depth at the club, he had his debut at full-back.

"That's a bit unusual but then, I enjoy sprinting and just go inside - I'm not staying back that much," he said.

"I warn my centre-back 'I'm not staying' and that I'm just going to continue attacking.

"That movement is what I'm seeking. It's enjoyable."

'Surreal Experience

Along with the forward's six scores on debut, Stephen Ireland has netted eight in three games for the side, while George Boyd scored five on his first match and Joleon Lescott, a centre-half by position, scored a hat-trick in one game as a striker.

Wythenshawe are top of the Top Tier with three wins from 3 and a goal difference of plus nineteen.

Paul Barrow, 38, who plays on the flank for the opposition, faced former Wigan full-back Maynor Figueroa on the weekend - and had to explain his young boy who Heskey was.

He has appeared at 2 World Cups for his country, in addition to playing in over 200 Premier League matches.

"The news was going round like wildfire they had all these former top-flight players," remarked the player.

"I think I was a bit awestruck playing against him to be honest.

"Even Heskey got on and he's got 60-odd English caps.

"We competed well for a solid twenty mins but then we had a man dismissed and it was hard.

"We really haven't stopped talking about it - I was phoning my mother and brother on the way home.

"They were all really nice, shaking our hands after the match - it was like facing a bunch of normal fellas.

"Now we are eager for the return fixture."

'We'll Still Take the Title'

Andy Kirby coaches the Collegiate veterans side, who secured the Premier Division title the previous campaign, along with his co-manager.

"We scored one-nil up and had a
